about

The Floating Island is an album of progressive electronica written for Sybille Muschik’s Shoreline Studio YouTube series. The Floating Island suite concerns the journey of a clump of trees and rushes cast adrift from the lake shore, frozen into the lake’s surface for the winter, and ultimately released in spring to continue its journey. Slide Zone gives voice to a stretch of high riverbank slowly but continuously slipping into the ever-moving water. The Mining Relics suite is an attempt to convey the eeriness and melancholy of long-abandoned gold mining equipment encountered in Wells, B.C., along with the surrounding tailings pile, groundwater test-wells, sentinel-like ruined foundations, and polluted lake that share a distorted symbiosis. The Old Cabin (Golden Windows) is inspired by a lakeside Victorian cabin whose windows, for a brief period in midwinter, reflect the setting sun in spectacular fashion.
